Our mission is to travel to South Africa in attempts to share the love our father has put into our hearts. We will work with orphans and Aids victims through a wonderful center called Ithemba. Here we will be able to connect with the kids and show them they have not been forgotten. We will spend our days playing with them and loving them just like Jesus has taught us too. We will also be working to film some of the devastation and poverty left from the Apartheid in South Africa, as well as the rising AIDS epidemic throughout Africa so that we can be the voice of a people who have been silenced for far too long.

If you would like to help us by donating from what God has blessed you with, click on the "donate" link under the video to the right of the page. From there you will find out the many ways you can help support our trip and the kids at Ithemba.

I thank all of you for your interest in this cause and I pray that God burdens your heart for the plight of these children of God.

In Him,
Michael Tyree

Assignment #3 - November 14, 2011

Write a quick 4-6 sentence summary about the following video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mogTwwepces

10 comments:

  1. The video that we viewed went into depth about the effects of HIV/AIDs. The video talked about how massive this problem is nationwide and how this shouldn't be the case. There are drugs to treat this and there are ways to help the issue but in order for the kids and adults that contain this sickness to heal, more compassion and awareness is needed to keep the help coming. The help would be recieved by grateful, hopeful, and bright citizens of the nation.

  2. In the video, i have learned so many new things. I learned that we have all of the medication to stop AIDS, we know how to prevent it, yet we still are not taking the right plan of action. In the video, it said that we need to approach it with more compassion. Not only is AIDS a disease, it basically ruins your life forever unless you are treated. The life expectancy was only around the age of 40 for most people. You saw children having to bury their parents because of it, and also seeing parents burying their kids.
For me, this video spoke out to me in a lot of ways, and i just want to do as much as i can to help

  4. The video was about what AIDS is and who it effected. It basically threw out incredible numbers about how many people are effected by AIDS in South Africa. To me, it was shocking to think about those statistics. It also talked about how AIDS could be prevented and treated with programs already in place, only "scaled up." Its a shame that so many people are suffering with very little hope of improvement and that there IS a way to help that ISN'T being utilized. Help is needed.

  6. This video talked about how HIV/AIDS is effecting people who live in Africa. It showed how kids can't go to school most of the time because they are too sick. Some kids had to bury their parents, and some parents had to bury their kids. People have the medicine to prevent AIDS and the medicine to stop it, but there is just not enough people with compassion to do it. It's really sad to see how many lives are effected by this.

  7. The video basically talked about HIV/AIDS and its effects on people who have it. There was a lot of crazy information in there that I was not aware of. Many of the kids can't even go to school because they are too sick. We as Americans do not know how well off we have it. The medicines are out there to slow the symptoms, but people aren't there to help. It is sad to think that so many lives could be saved, but aren't.

  8. The video aims to shed light on the horrific epidemic known as HIV/AIDS. The video displays the devastating results of this disease by sharing heart-breaking statistics and stories about Africans affected by the disease. The video discusses the treatments available to help these people in Africa with AIDS. The video calls for "help" and "greater understanding" from developed countries to help keep hope alive in Africa to rid the country of this disease. Less than 10% of African children receive they help they need for food, education, and most importantly, AIDS treatment. Experts say that there are sufficient medications to prevent the spread of this disease, yet it keeps spreading. For these efforts to work, experts say we must examine AIDS with much more compassion.

  9. The video started of by saying that sixty-five million people will be affected by the HIV virus yearly which is an incredible and saddening number. In Africa were they are greatly affected by HIV/AIDS the average life expectancy is less than forty years old. THe thing is that they have the have the drugs needed the help the treatment of the viruses yet there arent enough people spreading the word and trying to get the help to provide the citizens of Africa with what they need in order to try and stop this epidemic.

So I just typed this whole thing and when i submitted it the website crashed.... So now I am starting over :( Anyway, the situation in Africa makes me very angry. Even though the technology exists today to help the over 65 million Africans suffering from AIDS, less than 10% of the children who need medication receive any sort of treatment. This is annihilating the continent as the labor force is bed ridden and killed off, and the children miss school and die. The life expectancy is rapidly dropping causing grandparents to outlive their children and grandchildren watching them suffer from a disease that didn't even exist when they were young. This pandemic can be stopped with massive investment by pharmaceutical companies and western nations, but no one is willing to make the investment into the lives of these millions of people. Until the money comes they will continue to suffer. :(
