This weeks assignment is to write a 1-2 paragraph bio about yourself. When writing, present yourself as you would to a group of people that have never met you before. Include your name, grade, where you go to school, mission experience, and any hobbies you have or sports you like to play.
To do this, click on the "comments" link at the bottom of this post. You don't have a blog membership so you will have to post using the name/url listing. You don't have a URL to list so just putting your name is fine. Once done click save and submit. I will use this info to make your own personal blogs/links that will attach to this main one. You have till this Wednesday to complete the assignment.
In Him,
Tyree
Our mission is to travel to South Africa in attempts to share the love our father has put into our hearts. We will work with orphans and Aids victims through a wonderful center called Ithemba. Here we will be able to connect with the kids and show them they have not been forgotten. We will spend our days playing with them and loving them just like Jesus has taught us too. We will also be working to film some of the devastation and poverty left from the Apartheid in South Africa, as well as the rising AIDS epidemic throughout Africa so that we can be the voice of a people who have been silenced for far too long.
If you would like to help us by donating from what God has blessed you with, click on the "donate" link under the video to the right of the page. From there you will find out the many ways you can help support our trip and the kids at Ithemba.
I thank all of you for your interest in this cause and I pray that God burdens your heart for the plight of these children of God.
In Him,
Michael Tyree

My name is Ryan Grundberg, and I am a junior at Brentwood High School. I have lived in Nashville since I moved here from San Diego when I was six. I play on the school golf team, but I like to play just about every sport recreationally. In my free time, I enjoy hanging with my friends, and following my favorite sports teams. If you knew me than you would know that I am a die hard sports fan. I have attended Brentwood Baptist since i was in 6th grade. I do not have much past mission experience, other than working on various projects in downtown Nashville, but I hope this South Africa trip will be the start of many mission trips to come.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Fawn, and I am the female adult chaperone. I am currently the Youth Ministry Administrative Assistant at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, which is also where I grew up. As a teenager I participated in mission trips to Thomasville, North Carolina, Laredo, Texas, and Ensenada, Mexico to the City of Children. The first time I ever left North America I went to Europe for a Study Abroad program. I lived and studied in Vienna, Austria (population: 8 million) and traveled to Spain, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, The Netherlands, and Czech Republic. During college I interned with the North Atlanta Student Ministry in Atlanta, GA. With that group I co-led our 10-day trip to Mexico City, Mexico where we provided a VBS to the local children and served the community. I graduated from Lipscomb University in 2006 with a B.A. in Psychology. That last semester of college God placed China on my heart, so I gave all of my trust and fears to God and moved to Wuhan, Hubei, China (population: 12 million with college students). I taught Oral English to 240 graduate students that year and traveled all over China. I spent a good amount of time traveling to the Hunan Children’s Home and loving the children there. My goal was to show God’s love to the people of China even though it was illegal to tell the Gospel. I have, most recently, been to Cozumel, Mexico to the City of Angels Children’s Home. I love backpacking in warm weather, reading everything, painting & drawing, filming and editing life, and laughing! I truly believe God will show Himself through healing miracles of the body, mind, and spirit in South Africa. I can’t wait to be a part of it!
ReplyDeleteHi! Im Jesse Taylor. Im a senior at daivid lipscomb high school and I play right tackle on the football team. I love God so much and I want to do anything I can to serve him. This summer I've devoted to several mission trips along witht this south africa trip. My 7th 8th and 9th grade summer I was lucky enough to get to go to Honduras and serve the people of that culture. Being thrown into a 3rd world country at such a young age was a very eye opening experience. Instantly I fell in love with serving others. I loved playing wit the chilrdren and seeing the smile on their face. Those kids had nothing but a roof over their head. But the sad thing is, most of us in the US wouldn't even let our pets sleep in the houses that these kids sleep in. I am very excited to serve the lord this summer in africa with the rest of the team. The lord will do great things through this. In Him!
ReplyDeleteHello everybody! My name is Taylor Blackstone, I am 17 and a Junior at Brentwood High School. Currently my time is being dedicated to playing softball on my travel team, preparing for this trip, and lots and lots of school work. This mission trip to South Africa will check off a lot of firsts for me: first time out of the country, first mission trip, and first time I will be away from my family for more than a week. I joined the team because I thought it would be an awesome way to build a sturdy foundation and create a steady relationship with God while also making a difference in others. I'm eager and excited to get started and cannot wait to experience it all through Him.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Meredith Beck, and i'm a senior at David Lipscomb High School. I play both singles and doubles for my school's tennis team. I love hanging out with my friends. Also I really enjoy art but especially painting. I have gone to Brentwood Hills Church of Christ since second grade. I have never actually been out of the country for mission work but I have done Nasville Workcamp 3 summers and went on a mission trip to Somerset, PA where we had VBS for a church. I feel so blessed that i'm getting to go on this trip and I cant wait to see all the amazing things God has in store for us!
ReplyDeleteHola! I'm Blake Davidson, and I am a Junior at Brentwood Highschool. I don't play any sports anymore but I love to hang out with my friends and do things in the good old outdoors. I have gone to Harpeth Hills Church of Christ for my whole life and have been to both Honduras and Thailand for mission work, as well as a few more local trips to various places. I know that God has given us all this opportunity for a reason and I cannot wait to see how He will work through us.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Craig Harwell, and I am a senior at David Lipscomb High School. I am 18 years old. I am an active member of my youth group at Otter Creek Church of Christ. I run cross country and track for my school. When I'm not studying or doing homework, I love to hang out with my friends, watch tv, or go to sporting events. My past mission experience includes trips to the Dominican Republic in 2008 and to Haiti in 2010. On my trip to the DR, my eyes were opened to the joys of mission work. The joy in the lives of the Dominicans and their love for the Lord totally overwhelmed me. Mission work is a huge passion in my life, and it has been a dream of mine to go to Africa for mission work for the past few years. I CANNOT wait to see what God has in store for this trip. While I know that we will bless the South African people, I can definitely say that we will be blessed more by the love these people show us. I cannot wait till June!
ReplyDeleteHi! My name is Whitney Wilder, and I am a junior at David Lipscomb High School. I am 17 years old. I attend Brentwood Hills Church of Christ and I love it there! My time for now consist of playing soccer for my school. I am also a cheerleader for my school, and I play church-league basketball. I love spending time with my family, and hanging out with my friends. I have never done mission work out of the country before, so this will be my first time. It will also be my first time to even go out of the country, however, I've done Workcamp in the past and I am currently involved in Inner-City every Monday night. Inner-City has really opened my eyes and showed me that the kids there aren't as fortunate as we are, and I know I take advantage of a lot of things in life that those kids don't have. That is why I am so excited about this Africa trip, so hopefully it will open my eyes even more! I can not wait to play with the kids there and show God working through all of us! I feel so blessed to be going on this trip and can not wait to see what incredible things God has planned for us!
